Emmy Awards Nominees were announced this morning!!!

Ok, Ok... it's late afternoon, so this is old news by now. But Emmy Award Nominations were announced this morning. Let's break this down! Shall we?

Who got snubbed?

Ummm... Where in the hell is "Community"? The show nor any of the actors were nominated. Other than "Modern Family," "Community" was by far the funniest show to premiere this season. I really hope it was an oversight and not a deliberate snub. It has an Asian, a sassy black lady, an Indian and a former A-list movie star fresh out of rehab! That's everything the nomination committee looks for, isn't it? (Pssst... Hey, "Community"... next year, get a guy in a wheel chair.)

Courtney Cox! Not only did she get snubbed by voters for 10 years (never won a single Emmy for her work on "Friends"), but she didn't get nominated for "Cougar Town." She was nominated for a Golden Globe but not an Emmy? Julia Louis-Dreyfus was nominated for God's sake! It sort of seems to be a snub. Julia Louis-Dreyfus for best actress in a comedy? Actually, the phrase, "stings like an anal rape," seems appropriate right about now. That is an expression, right? Or is that only something my Mom likes to say?

Also, Conan snagged the emmy nom for outstanding variety, music or comedy series. However, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" was NOT among the nominees. Oooooh, *snap!* First, NBC dicks over Conan for his timeslot. Then, Leno's returning ratings are lower than Conan's ever were. Now, Conan snags the Emmy nod. Let me say it once again, "ooooooh, *snap!*"

Who did not get snubbed?... but really should have.

This is sure to be an unpopular opinion, but "Glee"? The music is amazing! The show is pathetic. Unless we are dealing with the "performance in a music special or variety act," no one should be nominated for ANYTHING! Ok, ok, I take that back. Jane Lynch is pretty damn funny. She deserves her supporting female in a comedy nom. But Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and CHRIS COLFER? C'mon! They're terrific singers who cover terrific tunes. I jog to the "Glee" soundtrack every day on the treadmill. I, also, tend to fart a whole lot while I'm on the treadmill. Sorry to the people on ellipticals behind me. Anyway, they are not great actors; they're not even good actors. And they are certainly NOT great comics. I think this is a case of the committee not knowing how to classify this series. In the beginning, there was great deliberation on whether it was a comedy or a drama. It fell into the comedy category because at one time the committee's comedy series category was known as the comedy/music category. But after "Rags to Riches" and "Cop Rock" went off the air, the music part of the description seemed moot. I wonder if anyone considered nominating it in the music/variety catagory?

The committee also seemed very nostalgic this year. Every year, voters tend to use these awards as a sort "goodbye" to past favorite but often out-played series, but it appears to be a little more obvious this year. "Lost" was awful this year but still nominated, as well as, actors Matthew Fox, Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson. And although this wasn't "Monk's" greatest season, Tony Shaloub was nominated for best actor. This trend might also explain Julia Louis-Dreyfus' nom. Really? I'm still in shock!

Predictions...

Ok. Other than Betty White's "no-duh!" Emmy, I don't really have any predictions. I think "Modern Family" and "True Blood" will do very well. I think supporting comedy actress is going to be a blood bath between Jane Lynch and Sofia Vergara ("Modern Family"). But the voters really like "Mad Men" for some reason. I have no idea how voting will go. However, I will go on record as predicting that if "Lost" or Jon Cryer win, I will punch a baby!

Here's a list of the nominations! So, you can see what the hell I'm talking about...
